St. Cloud State vs. Gustavus Adolphus

ST. PETER, Minnesota, November 6. THE St. Cloud State men's and women's swimming squads had an impressive day against Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday afternoon, winning 19 of 27 events.

The Husky men beat up on the Gusties 186 to 114, while the women won by an impressive score of 209 to 91 after starting the meet with the diving events Friday.

SCSU won three of the four relay events taking home the top time in both the 200 medley relays with the men posting a time of 1:38.39 while the women swam the event in 1:51.03. The men also won the 400 freestyle with a time of 3:18.70.

Junior Amber Alexander (Minot, N.D.), freshman Jasmine Lee (Green Bay, Wis.) and sophomore Dayna Nellis (Green Bay, Wis.) all won multiple events to help the Husky women win by over 100 points Saturday.

Lee was the only swimmer to win three events Saturday as she put together wins in the 100-yard backstroke (59.97), the 100-yard butterfly (59.16) and the 200-yard IM (2:12.64).

Alexander won the 50-yard breaststroke in a solid 31.87 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:09.24, while Nellis posted the fastest time of the day in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:00.56) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.26).

On the men's side, freshman Napoleon Howell (St. Augustine, Trinidad) won both the 50-yard breaststroke (27.69) and the 100-yard breaststroke (59.98) while helping win the 200-yard medley relay.

The Huskies will continue their season on the road, as they travel to compete against the University of
Wisconsin-Green Bay Friday and Saturday Nov. 12 & 13.
