Brenau, Wingate vs. Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, North Carolina, October 29. THE Wingate University women's swimming and diving team picked up two victories Friday night at the Pfeiffer University Athletic Complex. The Bulldogs defeated the host PU Falcons 78-17 and Brenau (Ga.) College 80-13. Wingate won 10 of the 11 events.

Sophomore Elly Speer (Sydney, Australia) won two events: the 200 Freestyle (2:01.97) and the 200 Butterfly (2:13.82). Freshman Amanda Gilbert (Metairie, La.) won the 50 Freestyle (25.89) and earned victories in the two relay races. Gilbert was a member of Wingate's victorious 200 Medley Relay (1:53.57) and 200 Freestyle Relay (1:43.22) events.

Bulldog freshman Valerie Dembny (Bremen, Germany) joined Gilbert on the two relay teams. Individually, Dembny won the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:15.04. Wingate will host Catawba College, Queens University of Charlotte and SCAD at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6.
