Alabama vs. LSU

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama, October 23. THE Alabama swimming and diving teams split with LSU Saturday at the Don Gambril Olympic Pool with the Crimson Tide men (2-0, 2-0 SEC) posting a 161-139 victory over the Tigers (0-2, 0-2 SEC), while the UA women (0-2, 0-2 SEC) fell 198-101 to the Tigers (1-1, 1-1 SEC). Overall, the UA men won nine events while the Tide women saw three freshmen pick up the first wins of their collegiate careers. Senior Catalin Cosma and junior Joe Ziegler once again led the way for the men. Cosma won the 500 and 1000 freestyle while Ziegler won the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke and anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay. Senior Adam Booher led the way in the diving events, dominating the field off both the 1 and 3-meter boards.

On the women's side of the slate, freshman Callan Buck won the 3-meter diving event with 310.50 points, while classmate Lauren Piper won the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.01. Freshman Marissa Dressel won the 500 freestyle, turning in a 5:03.12 to finish nearly three seconds ahead of the field. The Tide returns to action at the UT invitational, November 18-20, in Knoxville, Tenn.
