George Haines Invitational, Day One

STANFORD, California, October 14. FELECIA Lee posted the top time in five events over two sessions and Stephanie Phipps won her third-straight diving event of the season to highlight Stanford at the George Haines Invitational on Friday.

Lee picked up three wins in the morning long course format, winning the 100-meter free (57.73), 100-meter fly (1:01.74) and 200-meter back (2:20.63). Stanford swept the top three spots in four of the five swimming events with Lee, Sam Woodward and Andi Murez finishing 1-2-3 in the 100 free and 100 fly. Andie Taylor (400 free) also won in the early session.

Lee added finals wins in the 50-yard fly (24.25) and 50-yard back (24.94) and was also a part of two winning relays in the shortcourse evening session, the 100-yard medley relay to start the night session (47.60) and the 100-yard free relay (41.52), to close it out.

Phipps in her only competition of the day, won the three-meter, scoring 6.5's or better in three of her six dives, posting a score of 52.80 on a forward 2 ½ somersault pike on her first dive paced by two 7.5's and a 56.00 score on a reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck with 6.5's or better.

Woodward also posted a solid performance, winning the 50-yard free (22.99) and 100-yard IM (56.76), while also finishing second in the 50-yard fly (24.84) to Lee and also being a part of both night relay wins. Woodward in the early session was second to Lee in the 100-meter free (57.75) and 100-met fly (1:04.44).

The Haines Invite closes out Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
