Jim Clemmons Breaks Masters World Record at Pacific Masters Championships

WALNUT CREEK, California, October 13. JIM Clemmons set a Masters short course world record last weekend at the Pacific Masters championships.

Clemmons, 60 years old and representing Manatee Aquatic, swam a 5:22.86 in the 400 IM, breaking the world record of 5:25.65 in the 60-64 age group formerly held by Nick Leclercq.

Clemmons made a run at two other world records, starting with the mark of 9:43.83 in the 800 freestyle, but came up short with a 9:46.66 that was good enough to smash the national record of 9:58.99 by James McCleery. His second attempt was the 400 free world record of 4:40.45, but Clemmons settled for a national record time of 4:42.39, beating John Calvert's mark of 4:43.69.
