William and Mary vs. Towson

TOWSON, Maryland, October 9. THE William and Mary Tribe women's swimming and diving team fell to the defending CAA champion Towson Tigers in the season opener on Saturday, 205-93. With the loss, the Tribe falls to 0-1 overall and in the CAA, while Towson moves to 1-0 on the season and in the conference.

The Tribe's effort on Saturday was highlighted by junior Hailey Hewitt, who won a pair of individual events. Hewitt captured the 100 back with a time of 59.27 and then touched the wall first in the 200 back in a time of 2:03.88.

Also scoring an individual event victory on the day was freshman Sara Shaner. Shaner won the 50 free for the College, touching in a time of 24.58.

The William and Mary Tribe women's swimming and diving team will next be in action on Saturday, October 16 when the College travels to face Mary Washington and Howard. The meet is scheduled to get underway in Fredericksburg, Virginia at 1 p.m.
