Chinese Long Course Nationals: Li Xuanxu Posts Another Swift 400 IM

RIZHAO, China, August 30. AFTER what proved to be a swift night during the first evening at the Chinese Long Course Nationals, the second sessions of finals slowed down a bit overall.

Li Xuanxu won the women's 400 IM in 4:35.61, well short of her third-ranked season best of 4:34.59 set back in April. Ye Shiwen touched second in 4:38.17, short of her 13th-ranked season best of 4:37.97. Meanwhile, Cheng Rongrong earned third in 4:40.37 to improve to 17th in the world rankings.

Zhou Yanxin captured the women's 200 back in 2:09.60, moving up from 18th (2:10.11) in the world to 16th. Zhao Jing placed second in 2:10.42, shy of her 19th-ranked season best of 2:10.21, while Liu Yali rounded out the top three in 2:11.25.

Zhou Jiawei claimed the men's 100 fly in 52.34 to move up from 25th in the world to 17th with the performance. Zhang Zishan finished second in 52.93, while Chen Yin picked up third in 53.01.

Xie Zhi clocked a 28.17 to win the men's 50 breast, while Li Tianhao placed second in 28.33. Gu Biaorong earned third in 28.36.

Li Yunqi topped the men's 200 free in 1:48.81, while Jiang Yuhui touched second in 1:49.13. Dai Jun finished third overall in 1:49.49.

In relay action, a team from Shanghai won the women's 400 free relay in 3:42.44, while Liaoning took second in 3:44.37. Beijing placed third in 3:46.97.
