Mount Hood and Parkrose Merge

GRESHAM, Oregon, August 13. MOUNT Hood Aquatics (MHA), a USA Swimming Silver Medal Level Club and a Level 1 Club Recognition Program based in Gresham, Oregon, announces that Parkrose Swim Club (PRSC) and its Head Coach Bill Patterson will be joining forces with MHA at the end of the 2010 Long Course swimming season.

PRSC, based in Portland, Oregon has a rich tradition of over 5 decades of competitive swimming in Oregon. In 2010, Parkrose swimmers averaged 70% lifetime best swims throughout the year, which including a Western States Age Group Sectional Champion, an Oregon Swimming State Champion and a member of the 2010 Oregon Zone Team.

Describing the joining of forces between MHA and PRSC as a "win-win situation", MHA Executive Director, Brandon Drawz indicated that "Parkrose Swim Club is a natural fit to join the Mount Hood organization because of our long term relationship as co-tenants at Mount Hood Aquatic Center, in addition to the valuable level of talent that PRSC brings that will measurably bolster our Age Group program. With the addition of Bill to our staff, we gain a long-time friend who will add successful coaching leadership and experience to our staff. We are excited that the PRSC Board and parent group bring to our team valuable experience in conducting Age Group swim meets as well as a supportive philosophy that is consistent with that of Mount Hood Aquatics."

Patterson, an All-American backstroker from University of Washington in the 70's and US National Team member, stated that "being a part of such a professional organization like Mount Hood Aquatics is truly a unique opportunity for the swimmers on our team. I appreciate the enthusiasm of the Mount Hood staff and I thank them also for a very seamless process. Also I wish to thank the Parkrose Board and parent group for their full support in committing to take the next step in their child's success. Mount Hood and Parkrose share a common vision. Our future together is very bright."
