USA Swimming Sectionals, Shenandoah: First Night Complete

SHENANDOAH, Texas, July 28. THE first night of racing at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Shenandoah is in the books.

First Colony's Madeline Locus won the women's 100 free in 57.75, while Houston Cougar Kimberley Eeson finished second in 58.21. Alamo Area's Cassie Niles took third in 58.40. Power for Life's Joshua Bagby earned the men's 100 free title in 51.69. Fort Worth's Benjamin Barrett (52.37) and Nu Wave's Jarryd Gregoire (52.51) rounded out the top three.

First Colony's Romy Landeck topped the women's 100 breast in 1:13.63. Tiger's Kannon Betzen finished second in 1:14.07, while Lubbock's Madisyn Cox, 15, touched third in 1:14.67. Aggie's Cheyne Hermes touched out The Woodlands' Alton Sorensen, 1:05.47 to 1:05.51, in the men's 100 breast. First Colony's Kyle Yu took third in 1:06.44.

Alamo Area's Kim Pavlin snared the women's 200 back in 2:20.00, while Nitro's Lauren Davis finished second in 2:20.40. Katy's Cameron McHugh, 14, picked up third in 2:20.86. North Texas' Aaron Greene, 15, won the men's 200 back in 2:03.88. Blue Tide's Ryan Glander finished second in 2:07.79. Dallas Mustang Jonathan Beckwitt garnered third in 2:08.68.

The Woodlands went 1-2 in the women's 800 free. Elizabeth Nelson won in 8:55.91, while Lindsay Manning, 15, finished second in 8:58.61. Tiger's Alyssa Dilldine, 15, pocketed third in 9:09.54. The Woodlands' Nicolas Munoz claimed the men's 800 free in 8:26.04, while William Norton took second in 8:26.78, while First Colony's Daniel Graviss placed third in 8:29.54.
