Zimbabwe’s Frank Parrington, 85, Battling Kidney, Heart Conditions

HARARE, Zimbabwe, July 8. FRANK Parrington, who just turned 85 in June, has been battling kidney and heart conditions recently. Parrington is known as one of the top members of the Zimbabwe aquatic community having been a part of the community in the country for 80 years. Parrington just returned home from the hospital and is resting peacefully at home.

Parrington is a part of a legacy family in Zimbabwe that includes Frank's father, Francis, who is a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame as a pioneer diver who holds the now discontinued world record for The Plunge. The world record is at 86 feet and 8 inches set in 1933, which is the furthest distance a person can dive within 60 seconds.

Frank, who has been a part of the aquatic community since getting involved at the age of 5, is the father of David Parrington. David is the head diving coach at the University of Tennessee, continuing the coaching tradition in the family.
