Industry News: Universal Sports to Air Santa Clara International Grand Prix This Weekend

LOS ANGELES, California, June 17. UNIVERSAL Sports' coverage of the USA Swimming Grand Prix Series continues this weekend with LIVE finals coverage of the Swimnetwork.com Santa Clara International Grand Prix competition starting at 8pm ET on Saturday, June 19 and at 8pm ET on Sunday, June 20. The Grand Prix, which runs on a medals points system, will award its final top medal-winner $20,000. The Santa Clara Grand Prix is the second-to-last stop of the eight-meet USA Swimming Grand Prix Series, which concludes July 11 in Los Angeles. U.S. National Teamer Chloe Sutton is the current Grand Prix Series leader with 16 gold medals and 99 points overall.

ATHLETES TO WATCH: The Santa Clara Grand Prix boasts more than 10 U.S. Olympians, including Olympic gold medalists Natalie Coughlin (Vallejo, Calif.) and Ryan Lochte (Dayton Beach, Calif.). Joining them in the pool will be fellow Olympians Dana Vollmer (Granbury, Texas), Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.), Julia Smit (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.), Christine Magnuson (Tinley Park, Ill.), Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.), Megan Jendrick (Tacoma, Wash.), Elizabeth Beisel (Saunderstown, R.I.), and Ricky Berens (Charlotte, N.C.). National Teamers Dagny Knutson (Minot, N.D.), Kasey Carlson (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Lara Jackson (Tucson, Ariz.), and Kevin Swander (Carmel, Ind.) will also swim in Santa Clara.
