Maria Lenk Trophy: Kristel Kobrich Clocks Swift Distance Event, Several Other World-Ranked Times Posted

SANTOS, Brazil, May 9. THE Maria Lenk Trophy concluded with several more world-ranked times going up on the board in Santos, Brazil.

Kristel Kobrich moved to second in the world in the women's 1500 free with a victorious time of 16:14.48. That performance moved ahead of Kylie Palmer's 16:16.41, and behind top-ranked Melissa Gorman (16:03.24). Poliana Okimoto took second in 16:33.96, while Ana Da Cunha wound up third in 16:36.42. Luiz Rogerio Arapiraca posted a time in the top 25 in the world with an 8:04.25 in the men's 800 free. Lucas Kanieski (8:07.09) and Juan Pereyra (8:08.45) completed the top three.

Nicholas Dos Santos raced to victory in the men's 50 fly with a top time of 23.85. That effort moved Dos Santos up to 10th in the world rankings behind Andrew Lauterstein's 23.82 from March. Glauber Silva claimed second in 24.28, while Kaio Almeida grabbed third in 24.53.

Gabriella Silva improved upon her season-best in the women's 50 fly with a winning time of 26.83. The effort clipped her previous best of 26.86, but did not move her past Ling Shuyuan for 16th in the world. Daniele Jesus placed second in 27.12, while Daynara De Paula touched third in 27.14.

Guilherme Guido pushed into the top 20 in the world rankings with a 54.65 in the men's 100 back, while Gabriel Mangabeira touched second in 55.68. Markus Rogan completed the top three in 55.84. Meanwhile, Fabiola Molina vaulted into 13th in the rankings with a 1:00.97 in the women's 100 back. She posted a convincing win as Natalia Diniz finished more than two seconds back with a 1:03.35. Fernanda Alvarenga captured third in 1:04.50.
