Indianapolis to See Influx of NCAA Swimming Competitions, DI Meets to Remain Separate

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, May 6. THE NCAA and the Indiana Sports Corporation have reached an agreement to conduct each of the Divisions I, II and III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis twice between 2012 and 2017.

The national meets will be at the IU Natatorium on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.

The six-year schedule is as follows:

* 2012 – Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 21-24.
* 2013 – Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 21-23; and Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 28-30.
* 2014 – Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 19-22.
* 2015 – Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 10-14.
* 2016 – Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 8-12.
* 2017 – Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 16-18; and Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, March 23-25.

The inclusion of Indianapolis as a part of the regular rotation of hosting events is part of an agreement between the NCAA and the City of Indianapolis. The NCAA's lease with the city calls for the organization to regularly schedule championship events to be hosted in the city.

Additionally, the NCAA announced that the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Championships meets will remain separate for now citing that the NCAA has not seen a compelling rationale to recommend moving towards a combined championship at this time.

Special thanks to the NCAA for contributing to this report.
