Reuters - World champion and Olympic silver medalist Franziska Van Almsick will be out for the rest of the season following a motorcycle accident that has left her needing an operation on her hand.

Van Almsick was involved in a collision with a car as she rode her mother's motorcycle through a Berlin suburb last week.
