Minnesota Senior State Championships

ROCHESTER, Minnesota. March 25. THE Rochester Swim Club dominated the 2010 Minnesota Senior Short Course Yard Championships at the Rochester Olmsted Recreation Center.

Taylor Bass of Med-City Aquatics was the standout for the 13-14 girls age group by winning four individual events. Bass won the 200 back (2:04.18), 200 free (1:52.47), 200 IM (2:05.91), and 400 IM (4:33.33).

In the 15-16 age group, Spencer Rodriguez from Great Wolf Swim Club and Marisa Wood from Edina Swim Club one an impressive five individual events each. Rodriguez won the 100 free (53.16), 100 breast (1:06.20), 200 breast (2:22.38), 100 IM (1:01.56) and 200 IM (2:06.48). Wood swam to wins in the 200 free (1:54.06), 500 free (4:55.16), 1000 free (10:15.82), 1650 free (17:09.24), and 400 IM (4:29.63).

Ashleigh Calvert from Rochester Swim Club was a multiple event winner in the Open age group, winning a total of three events including the 100 free (52.29), 200 free (1:53.51), and 500 free (5:03.08).

Eric Huft from Edina Swim Club took control of the 13-14 boys age group by winning a total of six individual events. Huft won the 200 free (1:44.30), 500 free (4:40.59), 1000 free (9:46.17), 1650 free (16:13.61), 200 fly (2:01.05), and 400 IM (4:15.63).

Chris Freeman from Rochester Swim Club won six events in the 15-16 age group including the 200 free (1:43.46), 500 free (4:41.09), 1000 free (9:43.09), 1650 free (16:25.06), 200 back (1:52.59), and 200 IM (1:57.40).

For the Open age group Brian Kiel out swam the competition by winning five events individually. Kiel swam to wins in the 200 back (1:46.25), 100 fly (48.95), 100 IM (50.99), 200 IM (1:48.28), and 400 IM (4:05.10).

Rochester Swim Club won the meet with a combined score of 3,208.5 points, Edina Swim Club came in second with 2,744 points, and Great Wolf Swim Club came in third with 1,733 points.
