NCSA Junior Nationals: Rachel Naurath Caps Great Meet With Another Title

ORLANDO, Florida, March 20. THE final night of short course yard swimming came to a close at the NCSA Junior Nationals held in Orlando with Rachel Naurath of Nova of Virginia claiming another meet crown. SwimmingWorld.TV was on hand to capture all the action for a live pay-per-view audience.

Aquajets' Rachel Bootsma beat West Coast's Cindy Tran, 24.32 to 24.56, in the women's 50 back. Northern Kentucky Clipper Kristina Brandenburg finished third in 25.21. Sean Fletcher grabbed the men's 50 back in 22.29. Star's Philip Aronica earned second in 22.67, while Fox Valley's Grant Betulius touched third in 22.88.

Naurath grabbed another title with a 16:10.59 in the women's 1650 free. Redbird's Lindsay Gendron placed second in 16:22.80, while Star's Courtney Otto picked up third in 16:25.46. Hinsdale's Daniel Thomson cruised to victory in the men's 1650 free with a 15:10.35. Aiken-Augusta's Steven Kekacs finished second in 15:26.54, while Tsunami's Tyler Fowler took third in 15:30.77.

Badger's Aja Van Hout won the women's 200 IM in 2:00.28, while Baylor's Ashley Vance finished third in 2:01.36. Waukesha's Emily Schwabe touched third in 2:02.27. Long Island's John Wagner nabbed the men's 200 IM title in 1:49.92. Curl Burke's Charles Katis placed second in 1:50.88, while Jersey Wahoo Matt Belecanech wound up third in 1:51.18.

First Colony's Madeline Locus cleared 23 seconds with a 22.92, while Marin's Kathryn Murphy took second in 23.08. Baylor's Kristen Vredeveld placed third in 23.10. Long Island's Oliver Lee claimed the men's 50 free in 20.36. Fletcher placed second in 20.39, while Maverick's Daniel Tucker took third in 20.50.

Aquajets' Bootsma, Abigail Duncan, Hailey Szews and Tess Behrens captured the women's 400 medley relay in 3:38.56, while Curl Burke's Bradley Dillon, Katis, Nicholas Tremols and Ryan Dunne finished first in the men's 400 medley relay with a 3:20.82.
