By Phillip Whitten

AUSTIN, Texas. March 29. TWENTY-ONE year-old Anthony Robinson broke the world record for the 50 meter breaststroke in a time trial this afternoon, after the morning prelims on the third day of the U.S. National Swimming Championships were completed.

The 6'5" Robinson, who finished second yesterday in the 100 meter breaststroke behind Ed Moses's world record effort, clocked 27.49 seconds for the one-lap sprint. His time erased the five-yeaar old mark of 27.61 held by Ukraine's Alex Dzhaburiya.
