Georgia Last Chance: Day Two

ATHENS, Georgia, February 28. SENIOR Hunter Lainhart, making his final appearance at Gabrielsen Natatorium, automatically qualified for next month's NCAA Championships on Sunday at the Bulldog Invitational.

Lainhart recorded a long-course meters time of 55.54 seconds in the 100 backstroke, which converts to a short course yards time of 46.37. That puts Lainhart into the NCAAs at Ohio State March 25-27.

Also on Sunday, Erica Malagón improved her NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100 freestyle as she went 50.11 in short course yards. The NCAAs for the women will be March 18-20 at Purdue.

"All in all, it was a good weekend," Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. "Our kids were able to stay sharp with some competitive swims, and some people improved their standings. I am very proud of Hunter. He is such a hard worker and a good leader for this team. We could not be happier for him."
