Horizon League Championships: Day Two

CLEVELAND, Ohio, February 24. AFTER the second day of competition at the 2011 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, the Phoenix lead the women while UIC has taken first-place in the men's competition.

The men's race remains close with UIC just 10.5 points ahead of the Vikings (297.5). UIC's 400 Medley Relay team won the event with a meet record of 3:14.68. Evan Dunn also led the Flames winning the 200 Individual Medley (1:49.34). Cleveland State's Mark de Swardt won his eighth straight championship event in the 500 Free (4:24.95). Hermanus Botha from Wright State also set a meet record in the 50 Free with a time of 20.07.

The Phoenix remains on top for the women's competition with Alyssa Danielson winning the 50 Free, setting a meet record in a time of 22.90. Milwaukee is second with 273.5 points. Freshman Emily McClellan led the Panthers winning the 200 IM with a meet record time of 2:01.27. The Panthers 400 Medley Relay team also set a meet record, finishing in a time of 3:43.25.

Action begins again on Friday morning at 10:00 (EST) with prelims and finals following at 5:30pm.
