Passages: Oshkosh’s Natalie Bolin, 16

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin, February 21. ACCORDING to local reports including the Post Crescent and the Northwestern, Natalie Bolin, 16, passed away last night due to a two-vehicle crash just outside of Oshkosh.

Bolin was a swimmer for Oshkosh West High and Oshkosh YMCA, and was the 2009 Swimmer of the Year for her team. She also swam at five national meets and three Chesapeake Elite Pro-Ams.

According to information provided to Swimming World, Bolin was on her way back from the Wisconsin boys state high school championships with Jennifer Rothe, 17, Leah Bolin, 15, and Rachel Revolinski, 16.

According to the Post Crescent, "Sgt. James Giese of the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department said Natalie K. Bolin of Oshkosh was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the 8:20 p.m. crash on U.S. 41 in the Town of Nekimi."

Leah Bolin and Revolinksi also sustained serious injuries during the head-on crash with a pickup truck hauling a trailer. The sheriff's department stated that the SUV driven by Rothe "went out of control" and crossed the median into oncoming traffic.

A Facebook group called "RIP Natalie Bolin" has already reached more than 1,500 members since new first broke this morning about her death.
