Oregon 4A-1A High School State Championships

GRESHAM, Oregon, February 21. AT the Oregon 4A-1A High School State Championships, Marist and Sweet Home walked away with state titles. The Marist girls won with 52 points followed by North Bend (43) and Philomath (34). On the boys' side, Sweet Home tallied 83 points while North Bend took second (55) and Cottage Grove finished third (47).

Girls Results
Marist won two of three relays. Lauren Nelson, Alexis Mollahan, Victoria Weiler, and Mary Cummings won the 200 medley relay (1:58.47) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:53.08). Mollahan also won the 100 freestyle in 55.85.

Taft's Aly Viles was a dual event winner in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. She clocked times of 1:52.81 and 57.01, respectively.

Senior Rachel Heaney (North Bend) set a meet record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:04.14. She teamed up with Kelli Kronsberg, Kelsey Morgan and Mallory Crocker for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.78).

Crystal Kibby of Cascade won the 200 IM (2:07.15) and the 100 breaststroke. She set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.92.

Boys Results
Sweet Home won two of three relays. Jayce Calhoon, Michael Simmonds, Gravy Gunselman, and Kieran Schaefer set a meet record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.38. Calhoon also won the 200 IM in 1:58.48.

Sophomore Kevin Waller (North Bend) was a dual event winner in the 200 and 100 (48.19) freestyles. He set a meet record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.52.

James Verger (North Bend) won the 500 freestyle (4:49.16). He teamed up with Will Winfield, Matt Johnson and Waller for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.45).

Other first-place finishers include Colin Eaton (Port Lutheran) in the 50 freestyle (21.29), Gavin Nash (Cottage Grove) in the 100 butterfly (54.04), Isaac Hewitt (Corbett) in the 100 backstroke (51.45), and Tony Vickery (Junction City) in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.69).

Calhoon, Simmonds, Zachary Pearce, and Schaefer closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:18.59).
