Carmel Girls Claim 24th Consecutive State Title at Indiana High School State Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, February 15. CARMEL High School has done it again. At the Indiana Girls High School State Championships this weekend, Carmel won its 24th consecutive state title by tallying 419 points. Center Grove took second (186.5) while Munster, Chesterton, and Hamilton Southeastern went head-to-head for third. Munster claimed third (166) by only one point over Chesterton and three points over Hamilton Southeastern.

Carmel won all three relays. Lacey Locke, Lauren Stauder, Trish Regan, and Carly Marshall teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:41.96). Locke, a freshman, had an individual win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.60.

Regan, who is a four-star recruit in the Swimming World College Recruit rankings powered by Take Your Marks, was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:01.90) and the 100 butterfly (54.30).

Seniors Meghan Potee (Noblesville), Kate Hillman (Shenandoah), and Gail Susdorf (Fishers) were top finishers in the diving competition with scores of 467.50, 457.70 and 454.55, respectively.

Marshall, Lucy Kramer, Rhiannon Sheets, and Locke won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.58.

Westfield's Kait Flederbach had individual wins in the sprint races with times of 23.13 (50 freestyle) and 50.20 (100 freestyle). Flederbach is a Swimming World three-star recruit who is headed to the University of Arizona in the fall.

Other top finishers include Olivia Kabacinski (Chesterton) in the 200 freestyle (1:49.07), Colleen Drew (Carmel) in the 500 freestyle (4:52.24), and Emma Schoettmer (Center Grove) in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.49).

Alexis Bullard, Sheets, Margaret Ramsey, and Regan closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:25.14).
