William and Mary vs. East Carolina

GREENVILLE, North Carolina, February 6. THE William and Mary Tribe women's swimming and diving team lost in its final dual meet of the season, losing a tight meet at East Carolina, 159.5-131.5. With the defeat, the Tribe ends the regular season with an overall record of 7-4.

Despite the loss, the Tribe had numerous bright spots, highlighted by senior Katie Radloff. Radloff won three individual events on the day, running her season total to 28, a William and Mary school record. Radloff broke the school record of 27 that she shared with teammate Hailey Hewitt. Hewitt won 27 individual events last season, while Radloff had 27 wins in her breakout-freshman season.

Also with the three wins in the 50 free, 100 free, and the 100 back against East Carolina, Radloff ends her dual-meet career with 96 individual wins, also a W&M school record.

Also posting a strong effort against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon was sophomore Molly Emery, who won both the 500 free and the 400 individual medley.

The College swept the butterfly events against East Carolina, with freshman Gabrielle Mizerak winning the 100 fly with a time of 58.01, while senior Erin Welshofer touched the wall first in the 200 fly in a time of 2:06.09.

Rounding out the Tribe's effort on Saturday were sophomore Hailey Hewitt and freshman Caylyn Tate. Tate won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:21.34, while Hewitt captured the 200 back with a time of 2:03.45. With her win, Hewitt now sits all alone in ninth place on the College's career victory list with 40 career wins.

With the regular season now over, the William and Mary Tribe women's swimming and diving team will turn its attention to the CAA Championships. The three-day conference championship gets underway starting on Thursday, February 25, on the campus of George Mason University.

Meanwhile, the William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team fell on the road in its last meet before the CAA Championships, succumbing to East Carolina, 175-104. With the loss, the Tribe ends the dual meet season with a record of 3-5.

Leading the way for the College was sophomore Stephen Fay, who won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.38. With the win, Fay ends the regular season with 11 victories, tops on the team.

Also claiming an individual win for the Green and Gold was freshman Ben Ward, who touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke in a personal-best time of 58.09. With the time, Ward improves his standing in eighth-place overall in the event in school history.

With the dual meet season now complete, the William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team will now focus on the CAA Championships. The three-day conference championship gets underway starting on Thursday, February 25, on the campus of George Mason University.
