Nebraska vs. Missouri

COLUMBIA, Missouri, February 6. HOPING to send seniors Molly Bollen, Colleen Gordon, Kim Jasmer and Kristin Viger out on a high note, the Missouri women's swimming and diving team dominated Nebraska 203-93 Saturday afternoon at the Mizzou Aquatics Center.

The Tigers won all 16 races on the day to defeat the Huskers in the last collegiate event for the Tigers until the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships later this month in College Station, Texas.

"Obviously, our number one goal is always to win the meet, but I really wanted today to be about our seniors and the things they've accomplished in their career here at Mizzou." Tiger coach Brian Hoffer said. "The team did a great job today, and overall I thought today was successful all around."

Kim Jasmer was the first senior to take home an individual title today, winning the 200 free in 1:48.66, followed by Stephanie Rovig in second in 1:51.38 and Lisa Nathanson in third in 1:53.68. Rovig later in the day went on to win the 500 free event, finishing in 4:58.08

Jasmer doubled-up on the day winning the 200 IM in 2:03.76 setting a new season best and is the sixth fastest swim all-time in school history.

Mizzou went one-two in the 100 back, with Lauren Lavigna winning in 55.99 seconds, and Cassie Cunningham finishing in 56.40 seconds.

Francie Szostak earned the first individual title of the day winning the 1000 free in 10:25.76, followed by Ashley Patterson who finished second in 10:26.45 besting her previous time by ten seconds.

Morgan McCleery just edged out teammate Colleen Gordon in the 100 breast, as McCleery took first in 1:04.48, Gordon finished second in 1:05.09, giving her the third fastest time this year, and Amanda Masters finished third in 1:06.20.

Gordon won her tenth race in the last few weeks with a win in the 100 free, taking the top spot in 52.09 seconds, with Szostak taking third in 53.10 seconds.

Molly Bollen won her first race of the year on Saturday, taking first place in the 100 fly, finishing in 56.27 seconds.

Jordan Morcom swept both 1 and 3-meter diving titles on the day, winning the 1-meter competition with 279.90 points and the 3-meter with 318.90. The 318.90 is a season best mark for Morcom.

Melissa Jamerson took first in the 200 fly, finishing in 2:04.65, with Dominique Bouchard coming in third in 2:07.70 to crack the top five times in the event this year.

Nathanson won her first title, winning the 50 free in 23.27 seconds, followed by teammates Rachel Ripley and Bollen.

Ripley took first in the 200 breast, one of Nebraska's better races, winning in 2:20.99 over Nebraska swimmers Kaitlin Arntz and Kelsey Larson.

Cunningham won the 200 back in 2:02.78, with Brigette Selbert taking third place with 2:08.68.

The Tigers began the day by sweeping the top three spots in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Lavigna, Gordon Bollen and Jasmer finishing first in 1:44.99, with the "B" and "C" groups finishing in 1:45.48 and 1:47.20, respectively.

Mizzou wrapped up the rout winning the 200 free, as the team of Nathanson, Jasmer, Cunningham and Szostak touched the pad in 1:35.02.

The Tigers will return to the pool next weekend to face some of the world's best competition in the Mizzou Grand Prix beginning Friday at the Mizzou Aquatics Center.
