USA Swimming Sectionals, Long Beach: Big Names Perform on Second Night

LONG BEACH, California, December 19. SOME big names in the sport of swimming took center stage at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Long Beach over short course yards.

Andrea Kropp scored a surprising victory over Kasey Carlson in the women's 200 breast, 2:12.06 to 2:13.96. Liliana Alvarez wound up third in 2:14.35. Kosuke Kitajima continued his comeback with some more yard swimming with a winning time of 1:54.28 in the men's 200 breast. Cody Miller placed second in 1:58.24, while Dillon Connolly finished third in 1:59.68.

Presley Bard topped the women's 200 back in 1:53.80, while Madison White claimed second in 1:55.03. Karen Wang rounded out the top three in 1:56.62. Alex Lendrum earned the men's 200 back title in 1:45.18. James Martin snatched second in 1:46.42, while Vlad Morozov took third in 1:46.68.

Carlson returned in the women's 100 free with a winning time of 50.26. Cynthia Fascella grabbed second in 50.65, while Melanie Klaren placed third in 50.68. Jeff Daniels won the men's 100 free in 44.40. Morozov had his second podium with a third-place 44.55, while Patrick White placed third in 44.59.

Lyndsay DePaul won the women's 200 fly in 1:54.55. Jasmine Tosky finished second in 1:55.63, while Yumi So took third in 1:57.90. The men's 200 fly results were not reported by meet management.
