Texas Men, Georgia Women Still on Top in CSCAA Division I Poll

EVANSTON, Illinois, December 15. THE University of Texas leads the latest CSCAA / CollegeSwimming.com Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Poll.

The Longhorns captured sixteen of thirty-six first-place votes to maintain the top spot. The Pac 10 conference claimed the next four poll positions with Stanford University, California, and Arizona capturing six, one, and nine first-place votes respectively.

Auburn University, the defending NCAA Champion collected the final four first-place votes to rank fifth.

The latest poll represented the biggest shake-up in recent history with nineteen teams moving up or down from the November 17th ranking. The poll was also the most diverse with a record forty-five teams garnering points. The poll ranks teams' in dual meet competition.

The University of Georgia leads the latest CSCAA / CollegeSwimming.com Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Poll.

Arizona and Stanford swapped positions from the previous poll to rank second and third respectively. The Wildcats garnered nine first-place votes while the Cardinal received eight. Also receiving votes were the University of Texas (2) and defending NCAA Champions California.

Sixteen teams changed positions with eighth-ranked Texas A&M making the biggest jump and Minnesota entering the top ten for the first time this season.

The poll also illustrated the growth of women's swimming with a record fifty-four teams receiving votes. The poll ranks teams' in dual meet competition.

The next dual meet poll will be released January 6, 2010.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, Inc. (CSCAA), is the oldest coaches association in the United States of America.
