Flash! Lotte Friis Breaks World Record in 1500 Free -- November 29, 2009

BIRKEROD, Denmark, November 29. LAST night in a short course meter pool north of Copenhagen, Denmark's Lotte Friis broke Kate Ziegler's world record in the women's 1500 free. The swim took place in a local club meet with two swimmers competing in the event.

Friis checked in with a time of 15:28.65 to break Ziegler's global standard of 15:32.90, giving Denmark its first world record in the post-World War era. Ragnhild Hveger is the last person to hold a world record for Denmark back in the 30s.
