Italian Short Course Championships: Niccolo Beni Sets Italian Record -- November 21, 2009

RICCIONE, Italy, November 21. DURING the first day of swimming at the Italian Short Course Championships, Niccolo Beni topped the national mark in the men's 200 fly. Beni clocked a time of 1:53.72 to beat his previous record of 1:54.20 set in November 2008.

Alessia Filippi captured the women's 800 free in 8:20.58, while Laura Letrari won the women's 50 free in 24.74. Erica Buratto posted a 1:58.30 for the women's 200 free victory.

Elena Gemo touched out Letrari, 27.04 to 27.07, in the women's 50 back, while Gemo doubled up with a 2:05.50 in the women's 200 back. Lisa Fissneider claimed the women's 100 breast title in 1:06.45, while Francesca Segat clinched the women's 100 fly crown in 57.85. Segat doubled up with a 2:08.89 for the win in the women's 200 IM.


Among the men, Marco Orsi touched first in the 100 free with a 46.98, while Federico Colbertaldo won the 400 free in 3:40.52. Damiano Lestingi snatched the 100 back in 51.48, while Alessandro Terrin clocked a 26.43 in the 50 breast for the win. Edoardo Giorgetti claimed the 200 breast in 2:06.15. Rudy Goldin earned the 50 fly title in 23.40, while Lestingi doubled up with a 53.68 in the 100 IM. Luca Marin garnered the 400 IM victory with a 4:06.03.
