Kosuke Kitajima Claims Second in Second Day of Swimming

By Hideki Mochizuki, Swimming World Japanese correspondent

TOKYO, Japan, November 21. IN his second day of action, Kosuke Kitajima placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:14.31. Ryo Tateishi won the event with a 2:12.65 at the Tokyo Swimming Center Invitational. The loss is Kitajima's first to a Japanese swimmer since the 2006 Japanese Nationals.

"In the race, I just wished that it would be over sooner," Kitajima told reporters.

"That was a good swim for Kosuke considering his preparation was so short," Kitajima's coach Norimasa Hirai said.
