LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 15. AFTER a record-breaking weekend in Berlin, the men have a new leader in the World Cup overall trophy standings, while Jessica Hardy of the U.S. extended her lead among the women.
Cameron van der Burgh jumped into a strong lead with 131 points overall among the men, while compatriot Roland Schoeman moved into second with 81 points. Peter Marshall, who led heading into Berlin, dropped to third with 80 points.
Hardy, meanwhile, put some space between her and Sweden's Therese Alshammar. Hardy ended Berlin with 170 points, while Alshammar held 130 points. Australia's Marieke Guehrer rounded out the top three with 79 points.

November 18, 2009 Since the Americans are wearing shiney suits and we have outlawed them effective October 1, will the new world records be American records in illegal suits? Submitted by: kccoachmike
November 18, 2009 The U.S. only banned the suits domestically until Jan. 1, 2010. Swimmers are allowed to wear whatever FINA allows on the international circuit until then.
Therefore, the records will likely stand. It's still USA Swimming's call, but I don't see them not recognizing the records - especially since they've reported them on their site as records. Submitted by: Jason Marsteller
