Minnesota Signs Brian Dailey-Arndt To National Letter of Intent -- November 13, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, November 13. UNIVERSITY of Minnesota men's swimming and diving head coach Dennis Dale announced today that Brian Dailey-Arndt (St. Paul, Minn.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Minnesota.

A senior at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, Dailey-Arndt was the 2009 Minnesota State champion in the 100 backstroke and was the state runner-up in the 100 butterfly as a junior. He had a strong 2009 U.S. Junior Nationals, reaching the finals of the 100-meter backstroke, finishing seventh in 57.86. Dailey-Arndt is also a multiple-time NISCA High School All-American. He also competes for STAR Swim Club and coach Paul Lundsten.

"Brian is yet another Minnesota High School state champion that will stay at home and swim for Minnesota," assistant coach Bill Tramel said. "I watched his 100 backstroke at the high school state championships last year and was quite impressed. Brian won from lane three in quite an upset. He has the intangible. He is so focused when he competes. Now he is going to train with Dennis and perfect his underwater kicks, Brian should contribute in a big way immediately."

His top times are 49.28 in the 100 backstroke and 50.50 in the 100 butterfly (short course yards).

Johnson is the second member of the 2009-10 Gopher signing class, joining Drew Johnson (Chaska, Minn.).
