ROCHESTER, Michigan, October 31. FRESHMAN Sandra Czerska won three events while freshman Alex Aceino, sophomore Joe Rodgers, junior Chelsea Oates and seniors Agnes Solan and Mike Templeton won two each as the Oakland University men's and women's swimming and diving team swept Wayne State Saturday afternoon at the OU Aquatic Center. The men (1-1) won 178-118 while the women (1-2) beat the Warriors 169-131.
The Golden Grizzlies return to the OU Aquatic Center, Saturday, Nov. 7 hosting Wright State in a double dual meet. The meet is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
For the women, Czerska won the 100-yard butterfly (56.82), the 200 fly (2:03.09) and the 400 individual medley (4:31.42). Her time in the 200 fly was fourth fastest in OU history and her time in the 400 IM cracked the top 10. Solan captured the 200 (1:54.64) and 500 (5:08.77) freestyle events.
Oates hit NCAA Diving Zone qualifying marks in winning the 1 and 3-meter boards (279.45 and 297.30 points, respectively). Sophomore Marcella Barretta scored 284.40 points to place second on the 3-meter board and qualify for zones.
For the men, Aceino won two events at the same meet for the first time in his career. He captured the 100 and 200 fly events (50.79, 1:54.15, respectively). Picking up two wins each as well was Rodgers in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.50) and the 400 IM (4:12.15) and Templeton in the 100 and 200 free events (47.34, 1:42.26, respectively).
