Swimming World Six Star Elizabeth Beisel Makes College Decision -- October 31, 2009

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 31. ONE of the final blue chippers in the Class of 2010 has made her choice when it comes to her college destination. Swimming World six star Elizabeth Beisel, who swims for Bluefish, is heading to a much closer climate than her home in Rhode Island.

Beisel will be heading to the Southeastern Conference as a member of the Florida Gators. Beisel is easily one of the top recruits in the nation and is a lock to score points at the NCAA Division I Championships. Her top time in the 400-yard IM (4:04.59) would have been in the A final last year, while her 500-yard free time of 4:40.42 would have made the B final. Beisel's long course abilities speak for themselves with a bronze medal in the 200-meter back at the 2009 World Championships in Rome.

"The University of Florida had exactly what I was looking for – a program that trained men and women, and a coaching staff that I feel confident about getting me to the next level," Beisel told Swimming World. "Training with such a diverse group of elite swimmers on the international stage is a challenge I cannot wait to take on. The team itself had such great chemistry, and I cannot wait to work with Coach [Gregg] Troy and his assistants. This has been an extremely hard decision, but I feel Florida was the place where I belonged the most."

Beisel gives Florida their crown jewel in the Class of 2010 that includes five stars Kaitlin Frehling, Alicia Mathieu, Jon Nunez, Connor Signorin and Eric Solis as well as four star Stephen Lichtner.
