Swimming World Four-Star Recruits Sara Delay, Raquel Raybon Make College Decisions -- September 26, 2009

PHOENIX, Arizona, September 26. DURING the past few days, a pair of Swimming World four-star recruits from the Class of 2010 made their college decisions. Walnut Creek's Sara Delay and Sarasota YMCA's Raquel "Rocky" Raybon completed the recruiting process with pledges.

Delay made Ray Looze and the Indiana Hoosiers when she committed to the Big Ten squad this week. Delay is a sprinter with a top time of 56.99 in the 100-meter free. She also has a 26.77 in the 50-meter free and short course yard times in the 50-yard free (23.11) and 100-yard free (50.69).

"I like Indiana University because they have a great art school, an awesome swim team, coaches that can help me improve, and good academic support," Delay told Swimming World. "I've met the swimmers on the team and I like them a lot. I am very excited about swimming with them next year. I met all the swim coaches and each one has something to offer me. Also, I think there is a great opportunity for me to contribute to the sprint relays if I continue to improve. Another plus is I have family in the Bloomington area."

Raybon pledged her services to Clemson and coach Chris Ip next season. Raybon is a butterfly specialist with a 2:15.71 in the 200-meter fly. She also owns a 2:02.28 in the 200-yard fly.

"It took awhile to narrow down my 5 official visits," Raybon told Swimming World. "Clemson University was definitely one of my top choices all along. I had visited a few other schools, and I really enjoyed spending time with each coach. However, my Clemson recruiters, coach Pucci and coach Asti remained consistent since July. Once I met coach Ip, I immediately felt like he could motivate and coach me to the next level. He understood my SCY and LCM goals, and I believe he will help me achieve them. The swimmers have the unity and team spirit that I was looking for. It felt like I was leaving family by the end of the weekend. The campus is outstanding! I am really looking forward to helping the team perform at the ACC Championships. Go Tigers!!!"
