Dawn Fraser, 71, Battles Attempted Thief -- August 31, 2009

NOOSAVILLE, Australia, August 31. EVEN at the age of 71, Olympic legend Dawn Fraser demonstrated her competitive edge by fighting off a man who attempted to rob her house yesterday according to the Associated Press.

After the man attempted to subdue her, Fraser battled back with a vengeance.

"This guy came out of the gate and grabbed me and I grabbed him by the ear and I kicked him in the groin," Fraser told several Australian television stations. "So he had to let me go. He threatened my life and I got really annoyed about that and just grabbed him by the ear and the hair."

A friend of Fraser's helped apprehend the attempted robber until the police came to arrest him.

Fraser is one of the all time greats in the sport with eight Olympic medals including four to her credit.
