South African Short Course Championships: Flash! Cameron van der Burgh Sets Two World Records, Roland Schoeman Lowers One

PIETERMARITZBURG, South Africa, August 8. EARLIER today, Roland Schoeman clocked a 20.30 in the men's 50 free semifinals of the South African Short Course Championships. Additionally, Cameron van der Burgh lowered his global marks in the 50 breast finale and 100 breast semis.

Schoeman's swim cleared Amaury Leveaux's world record of 20.48 set last December at the European Short Course Championships.

The performance returned the record to Schoeman, as he previously held the standard before Leveaux.

With Schoeman already lowering the world record in the 50 free, van der Burgh joined him with a sterling time of 25.43 in the men's 50 breast. The clocking crushed his previous world record of 25.94 set last November.

van der Burgh also lowered the men's 100 breast world record during semis. He clocked a time of 56.39 to chop half a second from his global mark of 56.88 set last November.
