USA Swimming Sectionals, Mount Hood: BEST’s Noriko Inada Sets FINA Masters World Record

MOUNT HOOD, Oregon, July 24. THE fourth night of long course meter swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Mount Hood, Ore., featured at least one FINA Masters World Record performance.

BEST's Noriko Inada, 30, opened up the evening with a FINA Masters world record in the women's 100 back. She clocked a 1:01.25 to win the race, and lower her 30-34 age division mark of 1:02.83. She also broke the listed meet record of 1:03.01 set by Leona Jennings in 2008. Colorado Stars' Missy Franklin, 14, finished second in 1:03.02 with Spokane's Jenni Dole taking third in 1:03.72.

Missoula's David Cromwell scorched the men's 100 back with a 55.42. If Cromwell is registered with U.S. Masters Swimming, the 25-year-old's time would break the FINA Masters world record in the 25-29 division. Kevin Doak owns that record with a 57.00.
