USA Swimming Sectionals, Oxford: Several Listed Meet Records Fall on Third Night

OXFORD, Ohio, July 22. THE third evening of long course meter action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Oxford featured a few listed meet records taking a tumble.

Boilermaker's Allison Smith won the women's 100 back in 1:02.10, while Club Wolverine's Elizabeth Johnson (1:04.42) and Leigh Cole (1:04.61) placed second and third.

Cincinnati's David Plummer snagged the men's 100 back in a time of 53.34. That swim cleared his listed meet record of 53.76 from prelims, which beat his 55.28 set in March. Ohio State's Phil Seleskie placed second in 56.66 with Spartan's Jon Larocque finishing third in 57.33.

Club Wolverine's Kristyne Cole captured the women's 400 free in 4:17.18, while Greater Toledo's Laura Heckroth (4:20.18) and Jacy Dyer (4:20.27) took second and third.

Club Wolverine's Charles Houchin won the men's 400 free in 3:47.50. The readout beat the listed meet record of 3:58.02 set by teammate Adam DeJong in prelims. That time beat the previous mark of 3:58.71 set by Titus Knight in March. DeJong took second in 3:50.31, while Cincinnati Marlin David Mosko touched third in 3:58.27.

Cincinnati Marlin Kelsey Vehr stopped the clock in 1:11.06 to win the women's 100 breast. Blue Ash's Amanda Rom finished second in 1:12.01, while Smith took third in 1:12.75 after winning the 100 back.

Spartan's Kevin Puskaric earned the men's 100 breast title in 1:02.99, while Barracuda's Bradley Craig touched second in 1:03.21. Ohio State's Elliott Keefer claimed third in 1:03.64.

Club Wolverine's Caitlin Dauw touched out teammate Margaret Kelly, 2:14.59 to 2:14.80, for the women's 200 fly crown. Ohio State's Anita Beck touched third in 2:16.26.

Mosko turned his 400 free bronze into gold in the men's 200 fly with a 2:00.69. The performance eclipsed the listed meet record of 2:01.41 set by Randy Lam back in 2001. Ohio State's Robert Jenrow took second in 2:02.49 with Boilermaker's Ben Russell finishing third in 2:04.73.
