The Morning Swim Show Interview, July 15, 2009: John Lohn Helps Recap Top Swims from US Nationals -- July 15, 2009

PHOENIX, Arizona, July 15. THE USA Swimming world championship team may be looking ahead to Rome, but today on The Morning Swim Show we look back at some of the top swims from five days in Indianapolis.

Swimming World Magazine senior writer John Lohn talks about Michael Phelps' and Aaron Peirsol's world records from the US nationals, why the American men might be in trouble in the sprint freestyles in Rome, whether the women have more than a couple of gold medal hopes and why it might have been good for Katie Hoff to not swim at her best this year.

July 15, 2009 I don't think the American relays will be as bad off as the news journalists think it will be. The Americans are never great going into the meet, look at Beijing. It was France all the way until the last 20 meters!

July 15, 2009 Yeah, but look at the 4x100 free.. Top 6 times this year for France: 46.94, 47.15, 47.76, 47.77, 47.98, 48.31. Top 6 times for US, not including Lezak: 48.00 48.16 48.19 48.27 48.31 48.39.

Just adding top 4 each: 3:09.62 vs 3:12.62. That's .... not close ....
