Industry News: PMG Sports Signs Brett Hawke for Marketing, Licensing, Endorsements

AUBURN, Alabama, July 8. PMG Sports, one of the largest representation agencies for Olympic athletes and coaches, announced today that they have signed Brett Hawke, one of the best young swimming coaches in the world. PMG Sports will work with Hawke on developing marketing, licensing, and endorsement opportunities.

"I followed Brett's career as a world class swimmer and always felt what allowed him to stand out from many of the other swimmers was his tenacity and will to win, said PMG Sports President Evan Morgenstein. "As a coach he takes those attributes and adds an unmatched work ethic."

A native of Sydney, Australia, Hawke came originally came to the U.S. to compete at Auburn University. Competing in the sprint events, Hawke captured nine NCAA and seven SEC individual titles. Hawke finished his career at Auburn a 17-time All American.

After finishing his collegiate career, Hawke competed in both the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he finished sixth in the 50 m freestyle. Hawke also competed for Australia in the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and Pan Pacific Championships.

Hawke returned to his Alma Mater in the summer of 2006 as an assistant coach for the National Champion Tigers swimming and diving program. He has overseen the program since 2008, helping lead the men's team to a 2009 NCAA Championship as well as a Southeastern Conference Title.

During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Hawke served as the assistant coach for the Brazilian National team. Under his direction, former Auburn swimmer Cesar Cielo swam to a gold medal in the 50 m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 100 m freestyle. Other Auburn swimmers trained by Hawke at the 2008 Olympics included Fred Bousquet, Alexei Puninski and Matt Targett.

"I've been fortunate in my career to have success as both a swimmer and a coach. With the 2009 Auburn Men's Swimming National Championship it became obvious that apparel companies and others were interested in being associated with the program and myself," said Hawke. "With their diverse client list and experience working with some of the best athletes and coaches it made sense to sign on with PMG Sports."
