NCAA Div. I Women: Penn State Drubs Indiana and Michigan State

STATE COLLEGE, Penn., Jan. 27. THE No. 15 Penn State women's swimming and diving team defeated Big Ten rivals Michigan State and Indiana in a triangular meet at McCoy Natatorium, moving the team's record to 7-0 on the year. The Nittany Lions defeated Indiana 207-163 and bested Michigan State 278-91. Indiana beat Michigan State 251-118.

Penn State was victorious in ten events on the weekend, including the three-meter diving competition won by Jaime Jaax (Myersville, Md.). The Lions won the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and 800 free relay.

Individually, Penn State was led by Corrie Clark
(Malvern, Pa.) who took firsts in three events on the weekend. Clark won the 200 IM (2:05.17), 100 fly (56.60) and the 200 breast (2:16.63). Katie Anderson (Somerset, N.J.) won the 500 free (4:55.22). Chistina Frey (Manheim, Pa.) took the 100 fly (1:05.53). Sally Anderson (Somerset, N.J.) was victorious in the 1650 free with a time of 17:04.16.

"This weekend allowed our staff to evaluate where we are both team-wise and individually," head coach Bill Dorenkott said. "It was some good racing against some quality opponents. We're looking forward to hosting a well-coached Iowa team next Saturday at noon."

Indiana, led by Jennifer Cristy, won nine events. Cristy took the 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle.
