FINA Masters World, U.S. Masters Swimming Records Set at Bumpy Jones Classic

SARASOTA, Florida, June 18. THIS past weekend at the long course meter Bumpy Jones Classic held in Sarasota, Fla., several FINA World and U.S. Masters Swimming marks took a tumble.

With nearly 200 Masters swimmers attending the meet at the new headquarters for U.S. Masters Swimming in Sarasota, the titular swimmer of the Meet did not disappoint. Jones posted 75-79 FINA world records in the 100 back (1:20.98), 200 back (2:59.39), 200 IM (3:06.58) and 400 IM (6:48.48).

Meanwhile, Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen clocked a FINA world record in the 45-49 division in the 200 free (2:10.09).

U.S. Masters Swimming standards fell as well with Jack Groselle taking the 55-59 50 breast (33.07), while the Florida Maverick Masters team of Paul Hutinger, Robert MacDonald, Pat Tullman, and Jean Troy wiped out the mixed 400 medley relay record for the 320-359 division (7:45.92).
