NCAA Div. I Women: Aggies Defeat Owls

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Jan. 25. THE Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team defeated the Rice Owls by a score of 156-132 on Thursday at the
Student Rec Center Natatorium. This was the final home dual meet, in which Kathy Barris, Kelly Bolton, Courtney McKinney and Katie Swan were honored.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Sharisse Blau, McKinney, Clara Ho and Michelle Bird began the meet with a first-place finish in a time of 1:47.54, which is a season-best time for the Aggies.

A&M took the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke with Blau taking first in a season-best time of 57.46, Amy Osmun taking second (58.43) and Barris taking third (59.29).

In the 200-yard butterfly, Ho swam a season-best time of 2:02.65 good for a first-place finish. The junior from Fremont, Calif., also took the top spot in the 100-yard fly with a time of 56.43.

Blau, a sophomore education major, also took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.20. In the 200-yard back, Osmun took the top spot with a season-best time of 2:05.10, while teammate Barris came in second (2:06.00).

On the boards, junior Meghan Zack took first place on both the one-meter and three-meter springboards with scores of 182.90 and 223.80, respectively.

Next on the Aggies' calendar is the Big 12 Champion-ships which will be held in Austin, Texas on February 15-17.
