Lois Kivi Nochman Bests Another FINA Masters World Record -- June 8, 2009

CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 8. DURING a Masters meet held at Cleveland State University this weekend, Lois Kivi Nochman bettered her ninth FINA Masters world record of the year.

Swimming in her first long course meter meet in the 85-89 age division, Nochman posted a time of 1:01.94 in the women's 50 fly. Not only did that swim crush the U.S. Masters Swimming record of 1:11.58 set by Jean Durston back in 1999, the time edged the FINA Masters world record of 1:06.40 set by Japan's Yone Murata in 2007.

Nochman has already set eight short course meter FINA Masters world records this year, and has a career total of 51 FINA Masters world records and 97 U.S. Masters Swimming marks.
