Industry News: Fitter and Faster Tour Spreads Excitement Around Swimming

MIAMI BEACH, Florida, June 8. THE Fitter and Faster Tour, offering Olympic swim events across the country, will allow fans of all ages to meet and interact with Olympic champions and world-class swimmers. The tour, which begins immediately following July's FINA World Championships, has stops in over 20 major markets, including Chicago, New York, Atlanta, San Diego, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Charlotte.

With over 50 sessions, the tour is expected to reach 5,000 age-group swimmers, as well as close to 400 masters swimmers.

The event will boast gold medalists, world-record holders and NCAA Champions, including; Matt Grevers (2 gold, 1 silver), Peter Vanderkaay (2 gold, 1 bronze), Megan Jendrick (2 gold, 1 silver), Mark Gangloff (2 gold), Christine Magnuson (2 Silver), Ben Wildman-Tobriner (1 gold), Ous Mellouli (1 gold) and Lacey Nymeyer (1 silver).

The clinics are available for swimmers of all-levels. Included in the 3-hour clinic is; stroke technique, question and answer sessions, autographs and photos, an opportunity to hold an Olympic medal, parent programming and gift bags. Interested athletes can get more information or register at www.swimchampions.com.

"We want to remind kids why they love to swim," said David Arluck, President of Arluck Promotions, a Miami Beach based sports marketing firm putting on the event. "It's not every day you get a chance to meet an Olympian. To get the chance to swim and engage with multiple Olympic athletes makes it a truly unique experience that will significantly impact these kids and their passion for the sport."

The impact runs far beyond the date of the event, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the USA Swimming Foundation, which promotes swimming from the grassroots level to the Olympic Games. The tour has also partnered with World Sports Chicago in support of the city's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.

"As a native of the greater Chicago area, I am passionate about the opportunity to bring the Olympic games to my hometown," said Matt Grevers who was a four-time national champion for Northwestern University. "It's great to be able to bring excitement and attention to the sport and worthy causes."

The tour is currently offering a reward for all early registrants. All registrants before July 1 will be entered to win one of 10 Speedo LZR Racers and will also receive a 20% off discount at www.speedousa.com.

While the opportunity to meet Olympic athletes is exciting for children, the athletes themselves are equally as excited.

"Swimming has given so much to me," said two-time Olympic gold medalist Megan Jendrick. "I can't wait to share my passion for the sport with swimmers across the country."
