Southwest Classic Invitational: Susana Helms, Shane Asbury Win Distance Events on First Night

TUCSON, Arizona, June 5. LAST night, the Southwest Classic Invitational held in Tucson, Ariz., featured a pair of distance freestyle events to kick off the long course meter meet.

Local swimmer, Susana Helms of Ford Aquatics, won the women's 800 free in 9:00.16. Representing the Australian team in residence at the meet, Belinda Parslow finished second in 9:07.60. Ford's Lauren Baker, 16, wound up third.

Australia's Shane Asbury easily won the men's 1500 free crown in 16:01.37. Dynamo's Matias Koski finished second in 16:24.87, while Ford's Tony Calenti took home third-place honors in 17:16.06.
