NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships: Day 2 -- March 29, 1997

After the second day of competition, Auburn extends its leads over Stanford.

Auburn destroyed Tennessee's American, NCAA, and U.S. Open record in the 200 medley relay. The team of Michael Bartz, Adam Jerger, John Hargis and Brett Hawke won the event in a blistering 1:25.40; highlighted by Hawke's 18.62 freestyle split, the fastest in history.
