USC Women Upset Stanford To Win The 1997 NCAA Championships! -- March 23, 1997

Mark Schubert's Women of Troy, in what could be called the greatest upset in the history of NCAA Swimming, has stunned Richard Quick's Stanford Lady Cardinal en route to winning the 1997 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships!

This breaks Stanford Women's 5-year reign as National Champions!

Day 3 Recap:
Trina Jackson of Arizona won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:59.82.
Lindsay Benko of USC won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.42.
Martina Moravcova of SMU won the 100 freestyle with a lightening fast 48.18.
Kristine Quance of USC won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.62.
Lia Oberstar of SMU won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:56.76.
Stanford won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:16.72.
