By Graham Senders, Swimming World Australian Masters Correspondent

PERTH, Australia, April 22. VICTOR Paul of Bold Park Power stormed into the record books in his new age group on Saturday, April 18 under unseasonal stormy skies.

At a middle distance meet at Beatty Park Pool, the swimming venue for the 1962 British Commonwealth Games, Paul broke four 64-69 age division Australian long course records in his two swims.

He eclipsed Christian Thiess' 2004 800 butterfly record by more than 2 minutes, bringing it down from 16:20.59 to 14:09.52. On the way through, he took 16.01 seconds off John Crisp's 2001 200 butterfly record in a split time of 3:11.81 and brought Christian Thiess' 2005 400 butterfly record down from 7:40.10 to 6:47.88.

Paul then returned in the 400 IM, breaking the Australian record of 6:39.02 set by Bob Barry in 1997 by almost 20 seconds in a time of 6:19.77.
