Chinese National Championships: Jiao Liu Yang Resets Asian Record, Oldest Record in Men’s Books Falls

SHAOXING, China, April 12. ON top of the women's 50 fly Asian record having another progression, the oldest record in the men's record books in China fell by the wayside at the Chinese National Championships.

After clocking a 26.08 to set the women's 50 fly record in semis, Jiao Liu Yang won the event during finals with an Asian record time of 26.04. Zhou Yafei placed second in the event with a 26.43.

After tying the oldest men's record on the Chinese books yesterday with a 22.33 in the men's 50 free, Cai Li cleared the standard with a time of 22.19 for the title. Chengji Jiang's 22.33 has stood since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and was the final record in China's men's record book from before the turn of the millennium.

In other action, Li Xuanxu won the women's 800 free in 8:25.88, while Shi Feng claimed the men's 100 fly in 51.86. Zhao Jing also topped the women's 200 back in 2:07.87.
